My name is Judy Pemberton. I am the Acting Principal at Hutt Central School – I will be in this role for term 1 and 2 this year. Hutt Central is a school with a long history and excellent reputation. It has been on or near the present site since opening in 1866 – which makes us one of the oldest schools in the Wellington district. Currently Hutt Central has a roll of 270 students, catering for all levels from New Entrant to Year 6.
We have an amazing team of teachers and support staff. They provide our children with a rich and relevant curriculum. We pride ourselves on providing our children with wide range of opportunities to develop their personal strengths and goals.
Hutt Central is renowned for the excellent academic programmes and the subsequent successes. We are referred to as a family orientated school, where children come first. We value the partnership between home and school, adding value to the overall development and progress of our children, while they are at Hutt Central School and beyond into the future.
At Hutt Central School we have a very strong emphasis in Literacy and Numeracy across the school. The Arts is also a school wide focus area where all forms of art are explored and celebrated.
An emphasis is also placed upon Physical Education. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a range of sports including Cross Country Running, Athletics, Swimming, Rugby, Touch Rugby, Soccer, Netball, Miniball, Basketball and Flippaball to name a few.
At Hutt Central School we pride ourselves on our friendly, family approach to education.
